In every business whether small, medium or large you reach a point when you're struggling to keep up, struggling to meet demand.
I've written this article to help you when it comes to handling time management and a SURGE in business demand. The Situation
We've all been there. Things are ticking along nicely. You start your day with a list of tasks that you need to get through and you begin working your way through them but then the phone rings, you receive an urgent email or someone turns up out of the blue.
So, you do your job and and you answer the call, email or door and when you've finished you get back to your list (if you don't have any work to do deriving from the interruption) but you find yourself behind schedule. When creating the list you planned a specific amount of time for each task but now that a certain aspect of your time has been taken up by the interruption you find yourself struggling to keep up. But, you persevere and continue to push through the list until the phone rings again and this time you're presented with a client who has a problem and you need to be completely understanding, supportive and helpful. With all of these interruptions (albeit a necessary part of your business) you find that the time to complete each task on your list has passed and so you add the remaining tasks to tomorrow's list. Unfortunately, you find that the list keeps growing and tasks keeps moving forward until you start working longer and longer hours and it all becomes so much that you forget to enjoy yourself and your business. The Next Step - Considering Your Options
Your first thought may be that you need to hire a new member of staff to help out with the phone calls, emails and to take some of the tasks from your list. However, this does face you with some tricky decisions, a time consuming interview and training process and a range of additional business expenses that you need to consider.
What are the Alternatives?
