Read time: 1 minute and 5 seconds Okay, okay, hear me out. I know this one is going to raise some eyebrows and possibly spark a bit of anger (hey, don’t shoot the messenger!) If you’ve worked with me before, you’ll know I’m a huge advocate for organic marketing. But I haven’t ever really explained why. So, here goes. Since I started Admin Angels UK in February 2013, I haven’t spent a single penny on social media ads.
Yep, you heard me. No Facebook ads. No Twitter ads. No LinkedIn or Instagram ads. No Google Ads. Nothing. Nada. At the beginning of my journey as a freelance VA, I’ll admit, I baulked at spending a single penny of my hard-earned money on paid ads and was determined to make word-of-mouth and organic content work for me. Then, as my non-paid efforts began to yield results, I saw no reason to change what was clearly working for me. Almost 8 years later, I’m pleased to say that it’s paid off. My VA business is a success, and it’s growing, allowing me to help more and more authors and small business owners every year. All without spending a dime on paid ads. Now, I’m not saying that I’ll never spend money on paid ads, or that they don’t work. Many of my clients have had great success with paid ads. What I am saying is that there’s another option. That organic marketing can be just as effective as paid marketing and, certainly in the long run, there’s no replacement for consistent and quality organic content.
