Social Networking...What's that?
Notice boards, address books, post-it notes, business card holders, a pen and paper...all have been replaced.
Sometimes I feel rather melancholy when I think about how much social media has changed the world.
We no longer write with a pen and paper we type an email or a document. We don't write post-it notes and memos we now have Pinterest and Twitter. Instead of address books and business card files we have Facebook and LinkedIn. The world around us has changed and there's only one word that can communicate why our old methods are not substantial enough to compete with the new social networking tools that are available to us: Connectivity!
Unfortunately our papers, post-its, business cards and newspaper/magazine snippets were seen only by ourselves. They were un-organised, un-related and more importantly un-seen!
Not seen, not heard of and certainly not talked about. That's what used to happen to all of our notes, musings, discussions and brainstorms. They were for our eyes only!
Now everything is about communication, sharing and following. People want to see what you're up to, find out what you have to offer and read up on your latest news and developments. That's where Social Networking comes in by driving more search traffic to your website and to make things easier for you I'm going to break down my top 5 Social Networking Tools and what they can do for you! My Top 5 Social Networking Tools For Business!Managing Your Social Network!
All of the above tools and sites come together to form your Social Network.
This network needs to be carefully and regularly monitored, updated and managed with quality, relevant and well-linked content that will boost your website and your business. There are some helpful tools which help you to achieve this such as integration. For example, Twitter has an Integration option with Facebook that automatically re-posts all of your Tweets to Facebook and in doing so keeps your Facebook content in sync with your Twitter account. YouTube has share and embed features on each of it's videos which allows you to quickly and easily post video updates to your Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Linkedin accounts. Then there are Management Tools such as; HootSuite, BlissControl and many more. Only you can select which option is best for you and your business. Personally, I manage my own social networking sites individually to keep all of the content similar but fresh and with it's own individual feel. Yes, it takes more time to cover each site but I like adding something different to each site so that my followers, friends, connections and circles each have a different experience when visiting each of my different sites. Some of my clients ask me to only update Twitter which in turn updates their Facebook or they ask me to update YouTube and push the content to their Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and Google+ accounts. You should look into which options best optimise your business and the user experience of your visitors. I hope that this blog has been helpful.
